    Bring your own or reserve one to rent from Peaceful Making.

    Fridays 1-4

    All classes will be in-person at Peaceful Making - 3708 N Croatan Hwy, Ste 2, Kitty Hawk, NC 27949

    These series are for all levels of weavers. Clear instructions for new weavers, make your piece as elaborate as you’d like for more advanced weavers. Bring your own loom or rent one of our Kromski Rigid Heddle Looms.

    Rigid Heddle Looms can be rented for $10 a month for the class series. If you would like to purchase the loom to keep after the class, then your rental fees will be deducted from the total purchase price of the loom.

    Weaving Series 1

    October 2

    Learn to dress the loom. We will be dressing a rigid heddle loom to 5” wide, 2 yards long, 8 ends per inch (EPI ). This set up can be used for the entire series of classes.

    Learn how to wind the weft yarn into balls.

    Learn to draw your pattern for a Tapestry Weave.

    October 9:

    Weave your Tapestry Pattern.

    October 16:

    RYA Weaving - Rya weaving is a traditional Scandinavian knotting technique used to create textured fringe, plush pile rugs, and decorative wall hangings. We will be adding this to your current piece.

    October 23:

    Continue weaving with all different techniques to finish the pattern you designed.

    October 30:

    Finish your piece learning different finishing techniques.

    Continue with your scarf and learn the Leno technique. Leno weaving is a textile technique where warp threads (the vertical yarns) are twisted around each other before a weft thread (the horizontal yarn) passes through to lock the twist in place.

    November 20:

    Learn Interlocking Weft. The weft interlock is a tapestry weaving technique used to join two different blocks of color vertically without leaving an open slit. Continue working on your scarf.

    November 27:

    Finish your scarf and learn more finishing techniques.
