Sisters United

Sisters United was started in early 2019 by Candice English and her company, The Farmers Daughter Fibers. As a budding and successful entrepreneur, the Blackfeet artist could no longer turn a blind eye to the effects that historical trauma, drug and alcohol abuse, poverty, and violence are having in both the urban and rural indigenous communities in Montana.

What started out as a monthly initiative to raise funds for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) has since turned into a life form of its own. Within the first year and with the help of the Fiber Arts community we raised almost $20,000 for organizations who are empowering and supporting Native American Women and created the Sisters United Scholarship that awards one Great Falls Public School student with $5,000 of higher education.

The need for our efforts and organization quickly became evident as we started 2020 off by offering financial support for the search of Selena Not Afraid (Missing and Found Deceased, 2019). And just a few weeks into 2020 we obtained our 501c3. With this nonprofit status we have been able transform our initiative into a grassroots organization that helps create opportunities for Indigenous Women and Children, offer financial support in the ground work to find Missing Indigenous People, and fund essential programs to heal our Indigenous Communities and to keep them safe.

Room in the Inn

OBX Room In The Inn, Inc. is a non-profit 501C3 organization that was established in 2009 by Gail Leonard and Claiborne Yarbrough.  We have assisted hundreds of guests over the past 15 years.

The Mission of the OBX Room In The Inn is to provide food, clothing, and shelter to homeless adults on the Outer Banks during the winter months and support services year-round.

The OBX Room In The Inn shelter program begins in November and extends until the end of April. Intake starts each day from 4:00 pm and concludes at 5:30 pm at our office (111 W. Carlton Avenue, KDH).  Each potential guest who arrives at the center will go through an intake process which includes possessing a valid government issued ID, a breathalyzer, drug screen, a personal property search, policy and paperwork review, and a background check prior to entering the program. If you know a person who needs refuge, a warm bed, food, or assistance with other services, then please tell them to give us a call at (252) 255-1133.

Beach Food Pantry

We strive to provide healthy and nutritional food items which include pantry staples, fresh vegetables, frozen items, meat and dairy. It is our firm belief that healthy eating and well-rounded food choices are of utmost importance in today’s busy households.

The essence of our organization exists in our human spirit – the spirit and passion of those that serve and the spirit and determination of those who accept our services. We are dedicated to raising awareness of our cause and serving those in need in our community.
