The maker
From Greenbrier Valley to Kitty Hawk.
After managing craft programs in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, Diane Browning set up the non-profit Appalachian By Design in the early 1990s to give rural women paid work as home-based machine knitters. Appalachian Baby Design grew out of that enterprise as its own line of heirloom baby yarns, kits and patterns.
